Aquavit-the liquid, not the place

I was invited to a "Snaps or Schnapps" testing last week. Very nice!
It was NK Foodmarked who was the inviter.

Every year, the Swedish Wine & Liquor company makes their own blend into the Christmast aquavit.
To celebrate this event and making sure that aquavit is not just something to get seriously hammerd on, we got to try diffrent flavoured food in comparation with the spirits.
Mr Jonas Odland is the master of flavouring aquavit and
he was on sighth to tell us about the diffrent spices he used for the 4 shots we had.
Very intresting!

So from the left to the right... First O.P. Andersson- the number one aquavit in Sweden.
Caraway seeds, anise, and fennel is the spices and it match the pickled herring like a hand in a glove!
Second is Läckö Castle aquavit. Dill, caraway seeds, fennel and coriander. Goes amazing with Kalix Roe.
Third is O.P. Andersson limited edition. An amazing taste! It has been aged in Sherry cask for 11 years and I had Wästerbotten cheese on hard bread together with it and it was a match made in heaven!
Fourth is the Christmas Aquavit flavoured with caraway seeds, coriander, fennel and ginger.
It also has a splash of the Spanish strongwine Tarragona. Yummy with chocolate and also liqourice!
